Oil Painting Process

My oil painting technique is very simple. First is the canvas prep with gesso. I also like to follow the grid technique and then I sketch my portrait in charchoal. Finally I apply a thin acrylic burnt sienna coat over the canvas to get rid of the white background.

Watercolor Process

The process I take when creating a watercolor painting always starts with a sketch.

SOFTWARE ENgineer

Projects

I am a Java software engineer by trade. I also love to tinker with Arduino boards and the Raspberry Pi.

My latest creation involved an old projector that I used with an Arduino and Raspberry Pi to restore my father’s old high school football games from 16mm to digital.

I actually placed first in the Arduino project of the month competition in Septebmer of 2023.

SOFTWARE ENgineer

Projects

In December 2015 I finished my first Arduino project which was a remote control vintage Star Wars AT-AT Walker.

I used multiple servos wired to an Adafruit motor shield and Arduino Uno to move the legs. I also hacked an Xbox controller to remote control my creation.

I submitted my project to Arduino and they headlined it on their website and their blog. Various other tech media outlets wrote articles about my project including The Verge and Popular Mechanics.

A Little

About Me

My first priority is being a supportive husband and father to three amazing children. I’m also a self-taught artist with a passion for portrait painting, working primarily in watercolors and oils. Beyond art, I’m deeply committed to software development, constantly exploring new technologies and building creative solutions. Balancing these passions, I strive to bring a sense of creativity, curiosity, and dedication to everything I do.
